Job Summary
Under the direction of the Water System Foremen, will assist in water system maintenance work, installation of new water lines, hydrants, valves, meters and services. Assist in the emergency repair of water distribution system lines and associated infrastructure. Responsible for assisting with the operation and maintenance of the District's transmission and distribution system. Assist in the maintenance of residential and commercial water meters, valves, fire-hydrants and related infrastructure. Responsible for promoting the District's mission through great customer service and prove we care about our customers and will make every reasonable effort to meet or exceed their expectations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Foremen, provide basic labor for the installation of new water lines, hydrants, valves, meters and associated infrastructure. Installation also includes appropriate fill material, asphalt, concrete and landscaping.
- Assist in meter repair and replacement for residential and commercial properties. Assist MXU repair and replacement. Assist in meter box repair and upgrades which could include cement work. Must be able to perform yoke repair and replacement. Enter large meter vaults for replacement of meters using proper safety equipment. May include set up of traffic control. Assist in exercising and cleaning of the district's water valves. Assist in proper collection of water valve information through the asset manager software.
- Assist in the maintenance of the District's culinary water transmission and distribution systems; such as pipelines, groundwater sources, storage reservoirs, wells and booster pumps, pressure/flow regulating stations, zone valves, and related appurtenances. Assist in the repair, maintenance, and installation of any water system appurtenances.
- Provide troubleshooting/testing and/or repair of various District water systems such as: Water mains, water service lines, PRV's, hydrants, valves, meters, MXU's, meter boxes and other related appurtenances.
- Actively take part in the Water Systems ON-Call program. Must be able to respond after hours, as needed, to help with emergency repairs.
- May be required to assist with other maintenance activities including buildings, landscaping, equipment, reservoirs, valves, or the wastewater system.
General Qualification Requirements

Prior Work Experience: No experience necessary - however construction or industry- specific experience is preferred and recognized at a higher starting wage.
Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses, Certifications, Etc.
- Utah State Driver's License required
- CDL required for advancement - however the District sponsors this license. If already obtained prior to hire - this is recognized with a higher starting wage AND a stipend on each paycheck.
Overall Effort and Work Location:
- Must be able to withstand daily mental strain and pressure. Must be flexible to adjust for constantly changing operations.
- Work is generally performed during normal business hours. Must be able to work a predictable and consistent schedule with occasional after hours work as may be required and determined by the changing circumstances. Must be able to fulfill emergency first response call responding to District emergencies as needed.
Salary: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
