Job Summary
Under general supervision,this position is responsible for leaded guided tours of Kartchner Caverns. This position will also perform a variety of skilled and specialized work activities in the operation of a recreational, historic or natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, or historic objects/artifacts for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations. The position will also perform daily cleaning of the Discovery center and light landscaping and maintenance duties.
This position must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Programmatic
Job Duties:
- Hosts visitors.
- Conducts interpretive programs and will lead guided tours in cave.
- Provides information in response to visitor questions, direction, guidance, and concerns.
Public And Staff Safety
- Responsible for safely driving staff, volunteers and visitors to and from the cave system using an electric train.
- Staff the park contact station ensuring all visitors are aware of park rules and policies.
Customer Service
- Provides customer service by phone and in-person and respond to publics inquires about park hours, accommodations, reservations.
Reporting
- Records and completes all necessary reports concerning, revenue and attendance, time sheets, etc.
- Data Collection and monitors of weather and cave conditions to report out appropriate agencies.
Cash Handling
- Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop.
- Collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases.
- Awareness and participation in Systems Management (AMS) Strategic thinking for the organization to maximize the mission outcome.
- Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Selective Preference(s)
Degree in Park Management, Natural Resources Management, Recreation, or closely related field. Experience in park operations, interpretation and education, natural resources.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment.
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.

Retirement
Eligible for Arizona State Retirement System pension. Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment for newly hired State of Arizona employees.
