The Operations Crew position demands a variety of knowledge and skills. Under the direct supervision of the Zone Supervisor, they maintain the appearance and safety of the park by performing the duties listed below. This position requires a friendly individual with a “can do attitude,” willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, not afraid to get their hands dirty, and capable of conducting a variety of tasks in the course of a normal day. Polite communication skills and willingness to interact with the general public and volunteers on an informal basis are essential traits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Adapt to a variety of situations, personalities, and available resources
· Alert to public safety and work hazard at all times
· Enforce Park rules and regulations
· Interact directly and work with staff, interns, trades crew and a variety of volunteers when available and assigned for park projects and programs
· Horticultural assistance with landscape beds, weeding, planting, pruning
· Maintain appearance and quality of the park, projects, trails, and resources
· Maintain forest health, tree planting, and removal
· Maintain Park grounds, trails, ditches and culverts including blowing, mowing, weed trimming, and debris and litter removal
· Maintain and repair park buildings and structures and assist with park construction projects
· Maintain tools and equipment to assure good operation conditions at all times
· Perform Park janitorial services in buildings and restrooms
· Programming assistance as needed
Ability to read and comprehend documents such as procedure manuals, safety rules and operating instructions, and to follow directions as required; write routine reports, maintain records, and communicate effectively with the public.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
