- This is a full-time role that has a home base of Kansas or Missouri, working at KAT Wholesale. This role travels to 3 KAT Wholesale locations in Blue Springs, Missouri, Kansas City, Missouri and Olathe, Kansas. Will also proactively travel to Brehob Nurseries locations in Westfield, Indiana and Indianapolis Indiana.
- Salary Range: $55,000k-$65,000 dependent on experience + variable compensation earned through sales objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify Prospects: Partner with internal teams to recognize potential opportunities within the customer base, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of available leads for effective outreach and engagement. Leverage data analytics and market research to enhance outreach strategies and tailor communications effectively.
- New Revenue: Actively pursue and secure new business accounts to enhance revenue, while also scaling the existing customer base through strategic outreach and effective engagement to meet or surpass sales targets.
- Follow up on Leads: Proactively follow up on leads obtained from various channels, while cultivating relationships with both prospects and existing clients, ensuring that each interaction is personalized and value-driven.
- Document Activity: Maintain comprehensive and precise records of all sales activities, customer interactions, and forecasts within the company’s CRM system, Salesforce. Regularly update management on sales progress, market insights, and competitive trends to support informed strategic decision-making.
Essential Job Duties
- Proactively cold call potential leads to establishing new sales opportunities and expand customer base
- Maintain and grow the existing book of business by building strong relationships with key accounts, identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-sell, and providing ongoing support to meet customer needs
- Regularly assess account health and proactively address potential issues to ensure long-term partnerships
- Ensure superior customer satisfaction by promptly addressing inquiries, following up on orders, and efficiently processing transactions to enhance customer loyalty
- Utilize upselling techniques and offer product substitutions to increase market share with both new and existing customers
- Actively announce and follow up on special promotions communicated via HubSpot, ensuring customers are fully informed and engaged with our offerings
- Thoroughly document all sales-related activities, including customer interactions, follow-ups, and responses in the CRM system
- Consistently track and analyze personal sales metrics to evaluate performance against targets. Prepare periodic reports on sales activities, successes, and areas for improvement to discuss during performance reviews with management.
- Assist operational crew in maintaining the inventory at distribution sites, including organizing stock, conducting visual inspections, and reporting on product availability and condition to ensure readiness for sales activities
- Participating in trade shows, showcasing your skills at the booth to strengthen existing customer relationships, establish new ones, sell plant material, and promote our promotions
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to position the company's offerings effectively
- Conduct regular visits to landscapers, re-wholesalers, and garden centers to strengthen relationships, assess customer needs, and identify promising sales prospects in the field
- Enhance customer understanding of DCA Outdoor products and services through engaging tours of our nurseries

Minimum Qualifications
- Required: Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Business Administration, OR 6-8+ years' experience in high volume outside territory sales and account management
- Required: Travel throughout territory of Kansas, Missouri, and Indiana
- Required: 3+ years of experience in a nursery, landscape industry, or related field
- Required: Strong knowledge of hard goods
- Preferred: Bilingual English and Spanish skills
- Preferred: 3+ years if Salesforce; Tableau and PowerBi are a bonus
