Job Summary: Use industry standard techniques to remove invasive plants. This includes, but is not limited to prescribed burns, ecological mowing, herbicide applications, and hand removals.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Follow company policies, procedures, and work standards
- Adhere to the instructions given to you by your production coordinator, supervisor, or crew leader
- Communicate observations and concerns to appropriate channels
- Maintain high standard of quality
- Participate in all necessary Mariani training with relation to equipment and safety
- Arrive for each workday on time and prepared, dressed in the appropriate Mariani uniform
- Perform all driving duties for crew in a Mariani vehicle
- Complete clocking in and out of jobsite on company software
- Mix and apply herbicide according to the label
Qualifications:
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid Illinois Operator or Applicator pesticide license
- Demonstrate acceptable level of basic plant recognition and horticultural knowledge
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have ability to lift and move heavy objects (50 lbs.) and
- Must be able work outside in various conditions
- Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate seasonal needs
Other Skills/ Preferred Qualifications:
- Some natural areas management experience
- Ability to use mowers, line trimmers, and chainsaw
- S130/S190 or Chicago Wilderness Burn Certificate
Working Conditions:
Work requires the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. on occasion, and frequently transport bagged material up to 50 lbs. Physical requirements also include lifting, bending, walking, carrying, and pushing on a repetitive basis. This position works outdoors in various weather conditions. The noise level at the job site may be loud when operating certain equipment such as blowers or small power tools. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to client needs and deadlines.
