Position Overview We seek an experienced and driven Production Manager/ Head Grower to lead a talented growing team at our two-location nursery. This role requires strong technical plant knowledge, team leadership skills, and technological proficiency to manage greenhouse operations and technical data effectively. Key Responsibilities · Lead and manage a growing & shipping team of up to 30 individuals, including task allocation, deadline management, and scheduling. · Lead Hop production activities. · Help produce Crop & Space Plans, source plant material and work with sales to forecast Production at both facilities. · Oversee the effective irrigation, pest management (IPM), plant growth regulators (PGR), and fertilization programs at the Aurora facility, maintaining product quality standards. · Oversee the implementation of sustainable and biological growing practices (experience in organics a plus). · Utilize environmental controls to optimize plant growth conditions. · Communicate and motivate team members to meet operational goals (Spanish language skills are a bonus). · Track greenhouse operations using technology, including Excel, Outlook, SBI, and other relevant software. · Stay ahead in the industry through continuous education and professional development, with opportunities for travel. Qualifications · At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a grower in greenhouses specializing in bedding plants and perennials. · Proven ability to lead and manage teams (up to 30 staff) efficiently. · Strong background in proper irrigation practices, pesticide/fertilizer applications (applicator license a bonus), and PGR application timing. · Experience in environmental controls and biological control programs is highly desirable. · Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and SBI or other operational tools. · Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in horticulture or a related field. · Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and skilled in reading and understanding plant needs.
