PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
The position will work closely with the Senior Facilities Manager and will manage the maintenance of the grounds of the Estate, including oversight of staff, irrigation, watering, pruning, shaping, fertilizing, pest management, and overall health and wellbeing of the landscape and hardscape of the Property.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all aspects of the Landscape Operations including ornamental plants, trees, shrubs, groundcovers, grasses, soils, hardscapes, fountains, and other water features
- Manage preparation of soil, planting, watering, fertilizing, trimming, and pruning
- Oversee management of the irrigation system including daily work orders for irrigation adjustments and repairs
- Manage maintenance of all lawns by making sure they are manicured to correct heights and see that proper equipment is used; prune and shape all hedges to design specifications and schedules
- Manage and implement a fertilization program that is safe and effective for the wellbeing and health of all plants on the property including interior plants and water plants
- Manage pest, botanical disease, and insect control for the Estate
- Manage an integrated Pest Management process for all types of pests in the garden by using an organic approach where possible
- Maintain and implement a clean and tidy property grounds free from leaves, debris and soils by executing a daily site cleanliness program
- Monitor and communicate soils conditions, both dry and wet, and assist in managing any soils problems.
- Maintain an equipment inventory and storage of all landscape products and supplies in a highly clean, organized, and consolidated manner
- Maintain all hardscapes to a level of no stains or problems within your control and report any problems, both minor and major to the Senior Facilities Manager
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with various vendors, contractors, and other parties involved with landscape and property management operations
- Track key deliverables and outstanding items to make sure issues are communicated to appropriate parties promptly
- Schedule meetings, attend meetings, and take notes summarizing key points and deliverables
- Attend weekly meetings with Landscape/Facilities staff and provide relevant status updates and informational reports
- Other duties as assigned by the Estate Manager and the Senior Facilities Manager
SKILLS AND WORK HABITS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience managing landscape operations in hospitality industries, private estate experience preferred
- Ability to work under pressure with deadlines and changing priorities, maintaining a calm demeanor
- Able to use standard smart phone and related equipment for communication and recordkeeping
- Must be able to handle very sensitive and highly confidential issues with diplomacy and discretion
- Excellent computer skills, proficient in Google Drive, Microsoft Excel, MS Project, MS Word and OneNote
- Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and guidelines
- Ability to gracefully accept direct feedback
- Longevity in past positions with excellent references from past employers
- High-energy and ability to grasp new concepts quickly

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and REQUIREMENTS:
- Able for work in active landscape position in and around the Properties
- Able to reach, bend, stoop, lift, carry, move typical landscape items including furniture
- Able to lift 50 lbs on a consistent basis and be able to work on various slopes, grades and on various surfaces including lawns, tarps, concrete, soil, mulched areas and hardscapes
- Able to use stairways, landscape ladders, or step stool
- Able to operate all landscape and grounds equipment and furnishings, and equipment, tools, and appliances for maintenance and upkeep of Properties
- Able to work in various weather conditions and tolerate normal exposure to typical landscape, hardscape, and pest control chemicals, equipment noise, and daily exposure to elements
- Able to provide limited on-call availability and responsiveness during non-business hours
- Able to travel among the Properties without assistance
- Possess valid unrestricted driver’s license, adequate vehicle insurance coverage, and vehicle for use in performing job duties and travel among the Properties
- Must be authorized to work legally in the United States
- Willingness to submit to an in-depth background investigation
